Dear Parent(s)/Guardian(s),
Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) is a program deigned to prevent and respond to classroom and school discipline issues. PBIS will support staff in teaching and promotion of appropriate behavior in all students. By reducing behavior issues, PBIS helps to create and maintain safe learning environments, where teachers can teach and students can learn. As parents of our students, you will play a vital role on our team to insure students academic and behavior success. In conjunction with PBIS, students will be earning Pride Paws for positive behavior. Students have the opportunity to earn multiple paws throughout the day. The paws will be used for weekly and monthly incentives. In addition to individual incentives, classrooms can earn incentives.
In order to guarantee your child and all the students in our classroom, the excellent learning climate they deserve, I am utilizing the following discipline plan.
Token Economy-I will be tying the paws into a token economy system that students will be able to trade paws in for classroom rewards and prizes (Ex. sit by a friend for the day, pick from the treasure box). Positive behavior choices will be reinforced with paws through the token economy system. The students will be working to collect paws for their great behavior and trading those paws for non-food items and activities. At this time we will also be filling up a marble jar as good class behavior is shown. As a class, we’ll be working to vote on a class incentive (ex. extra recess). Please know that any student(s) receiving an Office Discipline Referral (ODR) will not be allowed to participate in the marble jar reward activity.

2. Listen Attentively
“Be Responsible”
